It’s been a decade since my last album and I am grateful for all the support from fans who love my music, as well as friends who have joined me on this creative journey. In this post, I want to share with you some of the talented writers and artists who have encouraged me along the way.
The first song, “We Gone Dance,” was written and performed by my friend, Vic (Qrown Vic). Vic and I have collaborated on several projects in the past, so when I asked him to write a song for the album, he eagerly agreed. Vic is an incredibly talented singer-songwriter, vocal producer and one of the most skilled artists I know from my hometown. He always knows exactly what he wants in a song before he starts composing.
The second song, “Fight For You,” was written by Victoria (Viktoria Vennice). This song has a blend of R&B and jazz, and it wouldn’t be complete without Victoria’s contribution. I met Victoria through a mutual friend, and our musical connection was instant. Not only is she a gifted writer, but she’s also an exceptional singer and performer. I’ve had the opportunity to perform with Victoria on a few occasions, and she always knows how to get the crowd going. She’s not just a talented singer, but an amazing writer, and whenever I sent her a song, she would send me back the verse, chorus, and bridge in fully formatted form.
The third song I want to highlight is “I Got You Babe,” written by Lili Forbes (Lyricallynn). Lili is another talented artist and singer that I met in Tallahassee. With years of experience as a musician, writer, and artist, Lili has an unparalleled work ethic. Like Vic and Victoria, it only took one ask for Lili to agree and create a beautiful song for the album.
“Mystical Summer Breeze” is a melodic song featuring the flute playing of Sarpay “SharpEye” Özçağatay. I was honored to include such a talented and accomplished instrumentalist on the album. The flute is one of my favorite instruments, second only to strings, and Sarpay’s performance on this song made it one of the most exciting tracks to share.
The final song I’ll mention is “Great is Thy Faithfulness,” featuring DeAndre Lettsome on alto sax. I reached out to John Lumpkin to ask if he knew of a trustworthy sax player for the project, and he recommended DeAndre without hesitation. DeAndre’s contribution was exactly what the song needed, and I am grateful for his gift.
I am so thankful to everyone who contributed to this project and provided me with the encouragement and motivation I needed. I hope you enjoy the album and share it with others.
